About me
Hi, I'm Maleah!
I am currently a student at Rice University studying Computer Science and Cognitive Science with a minor in Anthropology. I am a self-taught product designer interested in understanding and solving problems involving technology and design, with a passion for usability, diversity, and equity.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking 🌿, thrifting 👕, coding 💻, and playing video games 🎮. My favorite TV show at the moment is Supernatural.
Discover My Journey in Design
Ever since I can remember, I've been curious about the human past. I've spent hours upon hours collecting coins and rocks, which inspired me to explore the deeper mysteries of archaeology and anthropology. I wanted to understand how humans interacted with the earth, creating these artifacts that have stood the test of time. Studying the history of these artifacts and their connection to human interaction with the Earth became my passion.
But life has a way of leading us down unexpected paths, and mine turned toward the digital realm. I enrolled in a computer science course and was instantly drawn to the endless possibilities of technology to learn and create. I was fascinated by the ability of technology to connect people, transform lives, and bridge gaps across cultures. Within computer science, I found a medium that allowed me to explore my passions and help others in the process.
Through this journey, I discovered my true calling: user-centered design. By combining my love for technology, design, and human-computer interaction, I found the perfect blend of my interests. The iterative design process, with its emphasis on empathy, creativity, and user-centricity, resonates deeply with me. It allows me to connect with users on a profound level, understand their needs, and craft stories and experiences that are not only visually appealing but also intuitive and unique.
Today, as a college student, I am excited to dive deeper into the world of product design, supported with the experiences and passions that have shaped me. I strive to create meaningful experiences, foster connection, and improve the lives of those who interact with technology. I hope to push the boundaries of design, establish deep connections with users, and make a lasting impact on the world, one user at a time.
